October Life Update

We are about to reach one year since we moved out to the east coast! It has been a year full of growth, change, adventure, and a little bit of chaos! But by far this year has been our most amazing year yet. We started off living in Maine because we couldn’t find a home in New Hampshire with such short notice. When Seth got the job out here we had ONE day to find a place! But Maine was a slice of heaven. It was a place we had never imagined in our wildest dreams we’d end up but it will now always hold a special place in our hearts. I drive there weekly just to get a small taste of that Maine lifestyle…oh and for a lobster roll too!

Last month we relocated to New Hampshire after finding a rental in one of our favorite towns. The schools are phenomenal and we are only ten minutes away from the beach we love! We had originally hoped to buy a house but that didn’t end up working out. We have been actively looking to buy a home for a few months now and have put offers on multiple properties but no luck yet! In the area we live, the market is CRAZY. Homes are gone within hours after going up for sale and go for way more than asking price. But we have an amazing realtor and I have faith that in the next year or two we will have a home!

We have also started talking about baby #3…which has been a tough conversation! Seth and I really would love to have another baby soon because Luke is already zooming through his toddler phase. We also don’t want the kids to be too far apart in ages! It’s just hard to say if it’s going to happen because we want to buy a home first. Crossing my fingers that everything falls into place!

The kids are loving the seacoast life and have adjusted so well. We spent our entire summer at the beach and now we are getting to watch how beautiful everything looks in the fall. The other day Lily told me she was having a “wicked good time” and I laughed because New England has been rubbing off on her! She has made so many new friends in school and dance. But I also know she’ll be excited next year when we go visit our friends and family in New Mexico. She still FaceTimes my mom every day!

I’m a little sad that we won’t be home for the holidays this year but we have started making our own traditions here! Last year was my first year making a turkey and Thanksgiving dinner! We are also supposed to have some people come to us for the holidays, so that’ll be fun!

If you’ve read this far, thank you! I hope you have a wonderful Halloween week!

We are in such a similar situation- 6hrs from family and raising our little one pretty much just us 2 parents. We have also been looking to buy for about 2 years now (since we moved), but always struggle with building our life so far from family (holidays, school events, etc.). So I love reading your blogs and following along! It’s nice to know we’re not the only ones taking this big leap of faith!

It is a challenge! It feels like starting from scratch…and doing that on your own is not an easy task! But I feel like it’s so worth it! Plus, family is just a plane ride away! I’m so grateful for the fact that the kiddos get the best of both worlds and can experience our old home and our new one! But I completely know what you mean!!
