Disneyland With An Infant

So first off I want to start by saying that I recommend taking babes OVER the age of two on a Disneyland trip. We took Lily for her second birthday and it seemed like the perfect age for her to be there! She was able to walk, ride a lot of rides, and she could communicate with us when she needed anything (it was a great time!)…plus, she was already very much into the Disney Characters.

When we decided to take a trip to Disney for Halloween this year, I was SO worried about taking Luke since he was only three months old! But I wanted Lily to have a fun time and Luke to get used to traveling, so we sucked it up and went 🙂 Both of our kiddos have been traveling since they were three months old. We feel like traveling not only allows them to get cultured, but also teaches them how to easily adapt to any situation!

I’m not going to lie, our trip was not easy!! But fear not! I have traveled to Disney and back to give all you mamas some tips when going to Disneyland with an infant.

1. GET ORGANIZED

Keep your bags extra organized! Going out with an infant is challenging, but doing it at Disneyland is a whole other level. The park is packed and you need to be able to reach into your bag quickly and get what you need. I was a hot mess and didn’t do this! I’ve recently fell in love with the diaper bag organizer insert from ToteSavvy and wish I would’ve used it on my trip. It’s a life saver! I’d recommend something like this for your trip.

2. USE THE BABY CARE CENTER

Inside of the park they have one Baby Care Center near the entrance and it is amazing. It’s a little facility that you can go into to comfortably nurse, feed, or change your baby. They even have microwaves! I was able to sit in a nice rocking chair and feed Luke in peace. Props to Disney for looking out for us moms!

3. PLAN FOR ANYTHING

The weather can change unexpectedly and so can the noise levels around the park. The last thing you want is a fussy baby because you don’t have the right items with you. If you are headed to Disneyland in California remember that although the weather may be beautiful during the day, it has a tendency to get cold at night. I packed shorts, sweats, long sleeves, short sleeves, etc. And guess what? I used almost all of the clothes I packed. Be prepared!

It also got extremely noisy towards the end of the day when the parade started and the fireworks were going. I was so glad that I had brought our Baby Banz Earmuffs to cancel out loud noises and help Luke stay relaxed.

4. BRING GOOD TRANSPORTATION

Make sure to invest in a good stroller and baby carrier. I say to bring both because babies don’t like to stay in one position for too long. The great thing about the UPPAbaby Stroller I bought is that the seat can be used for an infant or a toddler. So when Luke wanted to be held in the carrier then Lily could jump in the stroller and rest her legs. Luke preferred to nap in the carrier and hangout in the stroller so it worked out well! Plus, a stroller can be used to hold diaper bags and purses!

5. DO YOUR RESEARCH

There are certain rides at Disneyland that babies are allowed to go on. Find out ahead of time which ones these are so that you can plan accordingly. Your girl was breastfeeding while riding Ariel’s Undersea Adventure haha! The rides are usually cool and dark, a perfect place to nurse.

6. HAVE MODEST EXPECTATIONS

When I say this, I don’t mean to be a buzz kill. Just keep in mind that you are taking a little baby to a big theme park and it can be overwhelming for them. Your job is to make them feel as comfortable as possible so that everyone can have a pleasant experience. I only got to ride two rides and eat once (I love the food inside Disney, so this was a bit of a bummer!)

Although it was a challenging trip, Lily had the best time! Seeing her happy and excited to be there made it all worth it to me 🙂

We just took our three month daughter for her first overnight trip to Disney World and I agree with the organization tip! One thing that helped us was having a mini readyto go disappear bag inside of her big one. We could easily pull it out and bring it into the babycenter, or anywhere for that matter, to change her. It was so much easier than lugging her big diaper bag everywhere.
