Minnie Mouse ears are a MUST when you are doing anything Disney. One of our favorite Disney girls right now is Moana. In our household, she has taken over…we watch the movie at least once a day and my daughter has a doll that sings all of the songs 24/7! So obviously when we planned a trip to Hawaii to visit Moana at the Aulani Disney Resort, I knew I needed an extra special pair of ears.
Supplies You Will Need:
- Artificial Flowers
- Glue Gun
- Flat Aluminum Wire
- Headband
- Hemp Cord
First, I took my flat aluminum wire and cut it and then bent the pieces into circles. You can do whatever size you prefer! I decided to do them a little bigger than normal sized Minnie Mouse Ears because I knew I would be putting on the flowers later and didn’t want it to hide the ears.
Then I grabbed my headband and hemp cord.
I glued the hemp to the middle of the headband and then started wrapping it around. Once I had wrapped it a few times, I took my aluminum wire and placed it on the headband and began wrapping around that. On the areas where the wire was, I made sure to wrap multiple times to make sure the ears wouldn’t be moving around. Wrap girl, wrap!
When the wire was secured tightly to the headband, I finished wrapping the rest of that side. Then did the exact same thing to the other side of the headband.
As if we didn’t do enough wrapping…I wrapped the ears too so they would match the headband. (I did all my wrapping while Lily played at the park so it passed by super quick!) I think it would also look cute with just the gold ears too!
I then took my flowers and cut the stems off.
I cut some leaves from the leftover flowers and glued them onto the headband first.
Finally, I glued on my flowers!
I spent $14 making these cute little ears and I still had tons of material left that I can use for other projects. It is always cheaper if you DIY!
